My family all still live there and are wading through snow.
Solid ice on the inside of the window, oh yes, I remember those days. I guess I should be grateful it's just condensation now!
A flat we lived in in London had Economy 7. Awful, awful thing. You write very well and very movingly about your circumstances and I hope you continue your blog for a long, long time.
We're just not used to these temperatures in Cornwall, are we? Yet I can remember as a child in Leicestershire, having solid ice on the inside of my bedroom window; counting up to 10 (several times!) before having to put my feet down on the freezing cold lino; in my 20s having to dig my car out from underneath a huge snowdrift before I could drive to work along icy, dangerously slippery roads, etc.
I believe we are healthier when we don't live in over-heated homes but - there is a limit! I'm lucky that I live in a council bungalow that is double-glazed (but hate the Economy 7 heating which is very expensive and a completely wasteful method of heating) but even so I have to budget to allow for heating, running my car (essential as we have no buses or shops here), food, etc. let's hope that summer - and sunshine - is not too far away!Ramblerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00914227535503925006noreply@blogger.com
